ORFEUS BALKAN ENSEMBLE
The newly formed Balkan Orpheus Ensemble plays exuberant and virtuos Bulgarian folk music. Lots of quirky Clock and key signatures, wild solos, both poignant - and super funny - folk songs!
Balkans - not to mention Bulgaria - are known throughout the world for its amazing folk music. Music that is nuanced, virtuoso, complex - melodic, with a fantastic energy and great emotional depth.
Orpheus Balkan Ensemble is playing and singing music from all regions of Bulgaria, in their own arrangements, and contribute with new compositions as well - both rooted in the ancient tradition - and in touch with the modern folk music, anno 2015.
This newly formed ensemble is a quartet consisting of 2 professional Bulgarian folk musicians, living in Copenhagen - as well as two Danes who have dedicated a large part of their lives to this music, and has gained deeply into its secrets.
The ensemble is consisting of:
Anne Eisensee - vocal
Filip Filipov - tapan, accordion and keyboard
Enis Ahmet - tambura and tapan
Adam Ørvad - accordion
